Early Literacy

Learning to read begins before children start school. From the time they are infants, children learn language and other important skills that will help them learn to read. Developing early literacy skills makes it easier for children to read once they begin school.

With our simple program, you'll see a series of activities (for instance, singing a song and clapping together.)

Cross off each one as you complete it, and if an activity doesn’t work for your child, feel free to replace it with reading a book together!

When you reach a star, you can come to the library for a prize!

Get in the game! Read! Tweens and teens can read an complete activities to earn badges and raffle tickets.
Enter to win prizes, including:
- Art Package
- Star Wars Fan Package
- Dr. Who Package Fan Package
- Music Lover Package
- Gift Cards, and more!

Special bonus from Pathways Credit Union

WECU Pathways Financial Credit Union has a $10 reward for readers (17 and under) who earn at least 5 stickers.  The participant will need to open an account at the credit union, and $10 will be deposited in the account. For more details, please visit or call WECU Pathways Financial Credit Union.

Adults love reading too! For each book you read, you can enter a weekly drawing. If you complete 8 books by July 31, you can enter to win one of our two grand prizes: a $150 or $100 Meijer gift card.
