2016 Author Series

All events start at 7 p.m. and are held at Veteran's Memorial Auditorium. Series tickets may be purchased for $10 at the door or at the main Marysville library branch. Kelly Lytle

Tuesday, Feb. 23
7:00 p.m.

Kelly Lytle was born on opening day of the 1982 NFL season in Denver, where his father Rob was a running back for the Broncos. Before turning to writing, he had worked on Wall Street for three years and spent time as a salary cap analyst in the NFL. He recently wrote the memoir To Dad: From Kelly about his relationship with his late father. He says, "The process of writing my first book showed me that many of the seemingly small decisions I've made combined to cause profound, positive changes in my life and help me overcome the grief of losing my dad."

Mindy McGinnis

Tuesday, March 15
7:00 p.m.

Mindy McGinnis is an assistant Young Adult librarian who lives in Ohio and cans her own food. She graduated from Otterbein University magna cum laude with a BA in English Literature and Religion.  Mindy has written a number of short stories and several Young Adult novels.  Her first book Not A Drop To Drink has been optioned for movie development by Fickle Fish Films.  The companion novel In A Handful Of Dust was released in 2014 and her Gothic historical thriller A Madness So Discreet came out in the fall of 2015. She loves being a writer, because it's the only occupation where you can legitimately stare into space and claim to be working.

Dr. Jim Burson

Dr. James (Jim) Burson is a sought-after basketball coaching consultant and motivational speaker.  He has written tow books. The Golden Whistle~Going Beyond: The Journey to Coaching Success and his most recent The Daily Nugget: Motivations for Basketball Coaches and Everyone Who Loves the Game. Jim graduated from Muskingum University and spent a distinguished 42 year career there as head coach of the men's basketball team and professor of physical and health education.  He received his PhD and master's degrees from The Ohio State University.

Laura Bickle

Tuesday, May 3
7:00 p.m.

Laura Bickle grew up in rural Ohio, reading entirely too many comic books out loud to her favorite Wonder Woman doll.  After graduating with an MA in Sociology-Criminiology from Ohio State University and an MLIS in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, she patrolled the stacks at the public library and worked with data systems in criminal justice.  Her books include The Dark Alchemy series for adults and The Hallowed Ones and The Outside for teens. She also writes contemporary fantasy novels as Alayna Williams.
